Well... An enemy race of the Irkens engineers a highly contagious, probably fatal disease and set it loose on a Irk. It is so bad that they have to quarrantine a whole area of the planet. People are stuck in the quarrantine area while their friends and family can only look on helplessly and wait for the cure to be found - but will that cure be found in time to save everyone stuck in quarrantine?

Semi-stolen from the back of a book I found while in the library (I didn't actually read it but it sounded good.) and the remainders dredged from the sludge that is my mind. Anything like what you're looking for???

mmm, needs a tiny bit of tweaking, but that's beside the point. It's good, we should work with it.

So, I was thinking maybe a few infected people got out somehow and traveled to a different planet (possibly Vortian) and it started to spread everywhere?

Well, I think you should start and if anyone wants to join they can introduce their charries when they want to.

"This isn't going to be easy to fix," A dark figure in a lab coat cursed under his breath, "That is, if it can even be fixed."
Then, suddenly, red flashing lights were everywhere.
"They found us, they found out!" Someone, a female, cried out.
Irken soldiers came crashing in on them, fast and hard. The people could only cower and wait for the worst....
It came.
"W-Wait, don't touch tha-!"

There was panic. Many evacuated. Everyone was constantly glued to the news feeds for any new scrap of information available. They anxiously waited for a shred of hope to cling to, any possibility that their friends and familt could be saved. They dared not go into the likelyhodd that they would not be.

(damn..., I'm pretty bad at this. Look, if you start it out, I'd feel a lot better. I know this is suppost to be my RP but I'm never good at starting it. You know the root of the story, so it should be easy..., for you. Not me. :[)

(Eh, I'll give it a go. But don't expect much. Expect mush. Yes. Mush. Yup, I said it. Mush.)

At first, they thought it was a new disease, something that had occured naturally. An old strain that had mutated. These things happened all the time. They just had to make a vaccine and it'd all be fine.
But then after a few tests, they found it had had been engineered by someone. It was highly contagious, and, eventually, fatal. They put up quarantines where ever the virus was reported.
Of course, the obvious culprits were the Vortians. But if it was them, their plan backfired horribly.
People panicked. They fled Irk before the quarrantines were put in place. Ran to places where they thought they could find help. One of those places was Vort. They didn't find help there. They only brought with them death.

I don't know much about it. They don't tell us much in quarrantine. I have the virus. Like everyone else, I am scared. What we can gleam from the news feeds seems grim. They are making no advances with the cure, they don't even know where it had came from or who made it! It is madness.
But surely, someone can help us?

powers: very good at talking to people - persuade, not kill. The power of persuasion. Good at all that sciencey stuff I'm terrible at.
other: Because of the accident at the lab (KA-BOOM!) he walks with a limp and kane but he can walk without the kane. (Very painful though.) Has a little sister named Shana who he cares about very much.

"Why are you holding us here?" The girl demanded for the eighth time. Still no answer. "I-I want my mommy...," The girl cried.
"Shut up, Desdemona," A boy hissed. "We aren't getting out anytime soon...," He glowered. "What's wrong with you people?" He asked. "Can't you help us at all?!"

Desdemona: It is a Greek name that means misery.

Donva hurried down the hall, leaning heavily on his cane. (didn't know it was spelt with a 'c'. Oops.) He'd been trying to get a hold of Shana all day, but she hadn't replied. He was growing worried. He cared about his little sister very much and didn't want anything to happen to her. And what with all the stuff about some virus going around! It was a time that people had to be careful, and she just goes and disappears on him! So typical...

Shana gave the girl a sympathetic glance as her questions went once again unanswered.
Aika moved about anxiously on her shoulder. She could sense these people's worry, Shana was sure. The little monkey creature wobbled on her shoulder for a moment, digging her claws into Shana's back in an attempt to regain her balance. Then she sprang away, in the direction of the girl Shana had just been looking at.
"Aika, no! Come! Heel!" called Shana. She hated when Aika did this...

The girl gave a confused shriek as she plummeted into the boy behind her.
"P-please, haven't I been hurt enough?!" She asked, clearly scared out of her wits. "Please," She broke down crying. "Please..."
"Ah, stop crying! Er...," The boy frowned, unable to control the girls wails.

Aika jumped on the girl (Who was now crying,) and began sniffing and examining her. Shana rushed up.
"I am so, so sorry," she began as she tried to pluck the monkey creature off the girl's shoulder. "She does this sometimes. I'm so sorry!" The monkey protested loudly and grabbed the crying girl's jacket.
Shana groped around in her bag for Aika's harness and lead. This was so emarrassing...

(I know I spelt embarasing wrong. I don't know how to spell it, okay?)

"I-it's ok," The girl said between sobs. She wiped her eyes with unneeded force and shook her head a little. "I g-guess i-it w-was my own f-fault..."

Shana managed to wrestle the harness on her pet. Something the girl had said puzzled her.
"How would it be your fault?" she asked as she pulled Aika away.

"B-because....," The girl started to wail again.
"Grrr, you idiot!" the boy yelled towards Shana, "How am I suppost to get her to stop!?"

"Hey!" Shana shouted irritably. "You watch it or I'll set my monkey on you!" Aika was pulling off the complete opposite of scary or dagerous at that moment - she was managing to pull off an extremely cute pose while grooming herself. Shana sighed tiredly.
"Okay, I'm sorry," she said to both the boy and the girl. "We're all confused and scared and tired and uncomfortable, but fighting isn't going to help. I'm Shana," she told them as she slipped a comforting arm around the crying girl's shoulder.

The boy smacked Shana away. "Don't you dare touch her!"
The girl grabbed Shana's hand. "I'm sorry," She whispered, trying desperately to still her sniffles. "This is my friend, Varius. My name is Desdemona." Desdemona smiled at Shana. She blinked, tears still falling. Varius started to protest, but stopped when she shivered violently. His eyes grew kind.
"Look, all she has is a little torn up dress, do you have anything we can use?" He asked desperately. "The guards won't give us anything!"
"I-It's true...," Desdemona said quietly, "they kicked me last time I asked..." She said in a very small, innocent voice. True innocence, they realized. "and it's only because of this!" She whimpered as she drew back some clothe on her arm. The bubbles had a strange glow to it, that made even the prettiest and brightest of fire flies turn it's head away in shame. Desdemona shook her head. "It's ok if you don't want to give us anything. I probably deserve it somehow..." She trailed off, on the verge of tears again.

"Uh, no, I think I may have something in my bag..." Shana mumbled, amazed and slightly worried about the things on Desdemona's arm. She shuffled about in her bag for something for Desdemona to wear. Shana eventually pulled out a spare dress that looked as if it would be right for her to wear.
"Here, try this. It might be a little big..." Shana handed the dress to Desdemona, envious of her slim figure. Shana had never lost her baby fat properly.

Desdemona stared at the dress, her eyes wide. "I-I," She started crying. "That's so nice of you!" She grabbed Shana's waist tightly, practically soaking her with her tears.
Varius sighed and rolled his eyes. "Thank-you," He said to Shana and bowed.

Shana gave Varius a 'what do I do?' kind of look, motioning to the girl wrapped around her waist.
To her embarrasment, Aika yanked her lead out of Shana's grip and scurried over to Varius. The little monkey raised herself on her hind legs and grabbed Varius' hand. She sniffed and smudged his hand, making friendly chattering noises.
Shana laughed. "She likes you," she told Varius.

"Uh, great," Varius said, giving away a slight blush.
Desdemona finally let go, smiling happily. She took the dress, thanking Shana again, and went off to change.

"Uh, is she okay?" Shana asked Varius, reffering to Desdemona's erratic mood swings.

Varius sorta shrugged, "I ask the exact same question every day. I think the chemical infected her brain." He smiled a little.
"H-How do I look?" Desdemona asked hesitantly. She cam out of a rather creepy looking room dressed in the clothing Shana had so nicely given her.

(Eh - I hadn't thought that far to be honest. Clothing and fashion is sorta lost on me. You go ahead and write up what it looks like.)

The dress was a startling color of blue-purple. A few belts had somehow ended up on her waist, fashioned in the emo style. It was sleeveless on the right side. Desdemona frowned, looking down at the sleeveless arm which just so happened to be the one that was infected. She looked towards them, her eyes very sad.
"It doesn't work as well as I hoped..." She said. She smiled, though. "Thank-you again!" She screamed, latching herself onto the side of Shana.
"Um..., were did you get those belts?" Varius asked.
"Your bag!" She said, glancing up.
"Oh..."

Shana sighed. Desdemona wasn't the only one who was getting into Varius' (Varius's?) bag; Aika was also pawing through it.
"Uh, Varius," she began. Why was her monkey always misbehaving? "Aika is interested in your things... She like shiny things, just a warning. She took my favourite necklace once."

Varius glanced down and gasped. "DON'T TOUCH THAT!" He yelled, snatching the bag away from the monkey. "BAD MONKEY, VERY BAD MONKEY!"

Aika hissed indignantly and jumped on Varius' shoulders then jumped from him to Shana. The monkey used Shana as a launch pad to reach one of the flourescent lights hanging from the ceiling. Shana knew it would take ages to get Aika down from there.
"What's so important in your bag?" she asked as she rummaged around in hers to find something she could use to coax her monkey back.

"None of your business!" Varius snapped at her. "I, that is," He stammered, "it's not on a need-to-know basis."
Desdemona blinked at this before skipping off and beginning to hum a soothing lullaby.

"O-okay," Shana stammered. She quickly backed off, slightly alarmed by Varius' outburst.

Varius turned away, his eyes cast downward. "Sorry," He muttered, before hurrying in the direction Desdemona went. She, however, was now behind Shana.
"Are you coming with us?" She asked politely.

Shana looked around at the other people in the room. The closed faces, the suspiscious glances, the unwelcome stares.
"Yes," Shana said gratefully. "I'd be absolutely delighted." Unlike many of the people here, Shana was alone. She had come to meet her older brother but then the quarantine had been put in place.

Desdemona gave a small smile and continue towards the door, her hands clasped behind her. She turned around, waiting.

Shana hurried after her when Aika jumped down from the light. Apparently, the mokey creature liked the atmosphere in the room as much as her owner.
"Good monkey," muttered Shana as she rushed away from the stares of the strangers she was leaving.

Desdemona looked down as she started off slowly only to end up right next to Shana. "So..., why are you here?" She asked in a nice tone, especially rare for a girl as self conscious and frightened as herself.

"I was supposed to meet my older brother here. But he must have been held up or something, because he was late. I bet it's because of the virus. Who would do that? Who would attack our Empire? Ours is the greatest, kindest, fairest, safest, most wonderful Empire ever! We have reached our peak now, but these people attacked us for nothing! It's so wrong," Shana told Desdemona. She really believed these things, even if they were pretty much memorised speeches from the news feeds. "Anyway, why are you here?"

"Master had to leave me here...," Desdemona said sadly. She began to whimper. "A-And...," her eyes welled up with tears, "he said h-he'd come back.., but he didn't." She looked at Shana, her sight blurry. "H-He said that the Emp-pire isn't going to fix this..."

Shana was slightly surprised. "Your master? Who's your master?" she asked the teary girl.

"O-Our T-tallests," She sputtered.

Shana's heart leapt. The Tallests! The loving, kind, fair, just, righteous Tallests! "Honest?!" she squealed. "The Tallests?" She gasped. "Are you on speaking terms with them?" Oh, how she loved The Tallests!!
